The National Coalition for LGBT Health has announced "OUTfront for LGBT Health" as the theme of the 16th annual National LGBT Health Awareness Week, which will be held from March 26-30, 2018. The Coalition, which created National LGBT Health Awareness Week in 2003, also announces the partner organizations joining with the Coalition for the Week.

"The theme was informed through a survey of over 300 respondents," said Coalition Executive Director Brian Hujdich. "The survey indicated that the most timely LGBT health issues are related to accessing healthcare, the rollback of LGBT protections, and visibility of LGBT health issues in the federal government.  The theme reflects our community getting out front in raising the visibility of LGBT health issues and needs, while advocating for culturally competent, quality health care."

"To align with the theme, the Coalition will lead advocacy and education efforts throughout the Week in partnership with numerous member organizations and advocates dedicated to achieving LGBT health equity," said Coalition Manager Michael Beyer.

During National LGBT Health Awareness Week, the Coalition will provide educational materials, host webinars, engage with federal government health agency officials, and distribute a social media toolkit for advocates and partner organizations to use to raise awareness of timely LGBT health issues and concerns.

The Coalition is joined, so far, by 131 partner organizations for the Week, including:
