| | | Movember: Men's Health Month |
| Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. Each November, "Movember" is observed to raise awareness of key issues affecting men's health, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. The purpose is to encourage men to seek screenings, have open conversations, and take proactive steps towards their overall well-being. |
| On-Demand Webinar in Honor of Movember - "Men's Health: Your Health is Your Wealth" In most settings, men are less engaged in healthcare services and have worse health outcomes than women. Strategies aimed at engaging men in healthcare have proven effective. This webinar will provide an overview of common health issues among men, how to engage and empower men to take control of their health, and strategies to overcome barriers to care for men. |
| | | Transgender Day of Remembrance: November 20, 2025 |
| Observed each year on November 20, Transgender Day of Remembrance honors the lives of transgender and gender-diverse people lost to violence and discrimination. It serves as a call to action to advance safety, dignity, and equity for the trans community while raising awareness of the barriers they continue to face. For public health professionals and community organizations, this observance is an opportunity to center trans voices, promote inclusive and affirming care, and strengthen community partnerships that support the health and well-being of transgender individuals. EBTI supports transgender and queer communities with two important resources: - The Effective Strategies for Affirming and Engaging Transgender Clients Toolkit encourages an approach to health care delivery in which organizations, programs, and providers recognize, validate, and support the identity stated or expressed by the individuals served.
- The "Rooted in Wellness" podcast episode HIV Prevention for Queer Communities of Color: Exploring Intersections of Societal Norms and Cultural Boundaries delves into the unique experiences of Black, Queer, and other communities of color in the context of HIV prevention, emphasizing the complex intersections of societal norms, cultural boundaries, and identity. Exploring how historical and contemporary societal attitudes toward gender, sexuality, and race influence both the risks of HIV and access to healthcare, this podcast examines the challenges faced by Queer communities of color in navigating stigma, discrimination, and systemic barriers that affect HIV prevention and care.
